Each session is run by friendly, approachable staff who are there to guide and support your children in their play and answer any questions you may have.
Our aim is to provide a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where all children have the chance to learn through play and socialise with other children. Most of the activities on offer are ‘free choice’, allowing each child the opportunity to develop through being able to make their own choices.
Our pre-school sessions are designed specifically for children up to school age in mind and are carefully planned in accordance with the Curriculum Council for Wales’ Desirable Outcomes & Foundation Phase areas of Learning using the Wales PPA guidelines for good practice.
All our playleaders and regular staff have relevant qualifications and/or experience in pre-school and Early Years education. During our sessions your child will have the opportunity to play and experiment with: painting, gluing, water and sand play, playdough, books, construction toys, physical play equipment, the home corner, songs and stories and to have the space to run around freely and play. We do like to alternate the different activities to add a bit of variety, so don’t expect to see it all in one session!
We also believe that being able to play outdoors is vital for the healthy development of young children and we use our safe outdoor spaces as much as possible.
We have a dedicated and enthusiastic committee mainly made up of parents and carers and are always keen to involve parents and carers in all aspects of running the groups (a lot of work goes on behind the scenes).
We are a non-profit making organisation and a registered charity (no.1090497) and have excellent links with the school. Integration from the playgroup to school is organised and easy for the children as the playgroup room is next to the Foundation Phase class and is directly linked by opening double doors.
