Castle Caereinion Church in Wales School
27th November 2020
Wow, to think we already half way through the final part of the Autumn term – How quickly time flies! Although Christmas celebrations will be different this year we want to reassure you that we are doing all we can in school to ensure Christmas remains a special and important time for the children. Please find details below of some of our upcoming events!
Thank you to you all for your support in raising money for the British Legion by allowing your children to purchase the poppy memorabilia. This year we have raised a whopping £94.05!
Thank you and well done to you all!
Children in Need Day:
Children in need day was a great success again this year, with a grand total of £49 raised. Although we are small in number you are all generous in giving. The children all looked great in their spots and stripes and they enjoyed participating in a range of Children in Need themed activities throughout the day! Thank you so much for supporting this worthy charity.
As a school we are committed to ensuring that the children are involved as much as possible in matters that are important to them. As such, each child from Year Two upwards have been elected to be part of one of our school committees. Details of which are below:
School Council – Led by Elaine Savage Digital Leaders – Led by Miss Evans
Evan Bowden Ellie Beddoe-Lloyd
Kelly James Zac Williams
Tristan Nicholas William Owen
Oliver Williams Ava Williams
Eco/healthy Schools – Led by Mrs Lloyd Criw Cymraeg – Led by Miss Brian
Erin Nicholas Alfie Mason
Rachael James Storm Shane
Kal Savage Oscar Atkinson
Sonny Reynolds Oliver Powell
The Reception and Year One children will be supervised in fun activities by Donna O’Brien during the meeting times.
Each Committee will meet weekly on a Friday afternoon for 20 minutes, where they will discuss the priorities that they wish to work on. They will keep us informed of their progress in half termly assemblies. We wish each team the best of luck with their work – pob lwc pawb!
Face Masks and Social Distancing:
I would just like to say thank you for conforming with the latest Welsh Government guidance of face masks at pick up and drop off times. Your support is greatly appreciated!
On Friday 18th December we will be holding our end of term Awards assembly at 9.00am. This will be again held via Teams. Please can you let us know if you would like us to send you an invitation for this.
Thank you to those of you who have already sent in prizes for our raffle. We are still in need of more though please. All donations of items no matter how big or small will all be very much gratefully received. Many thanks!
After consideration, we have decided that the best way to sell the tickets for the raffle will be to send each child home with 10 raffle tickets to be sold for £1 each. Any unsold tickets can be returned to school, equally if you require further tickets these can be requested from school.
Thank you to those of you who have sent in items for the Christmas boxes! They are now well under way and will be sent home with your child at the end of term. Again, a huge thanks to Lucy Mason and the rest of the Friends of the School in putting in the time and effort to ensure the children in our school have a magical Christmas!
Christmas Craft Club:
We will be having a Christmas Craft Club again this year, albeit a little differently to previous years. Instead of requesting parent volunteers, the club will instead be run by staff. It will take place on Thursday 10th December straight from school until 4.30pm. Each child who attends will make 3 different Christmas themed crafts to bring home. We are asking for a charge of £4.00 per child to cover the cost of resources please. We also need to know how many children will be staying for club, so please dojo Miss Evans or Miss Brian to confirm your child’s attendance no later than Friday 4th December. Many thanks.
Christmas Dinner Day:
As you will be aware we will be having our Christmas Dinner on Thursday 3rd December. To make it extra special this year, we thought it would be a nice touch for the pupils to come to school wearing something festive. Please do not go to any expense for this, a piece of tinsel in their hair or a pair of Christmas socks will be just fine!
Christmas Jumper Day:
It is National Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 11th December in aid of Save the Children. Please send your children to school wearing either a Christmas jumper or something festive! Any donations that you would like to make to Save the Children can either be made directly or can come into school with your child. https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/donate We are looking forward to a very festive themed day!
Christmas Movie Afternoon:
On the afternoon of Friday 18thDecember we will be having a movie afternoon! We thought it would be a nice treat for the children to have some popcorn and squash while viewing a Christmas movie. If you are happy to send donations of popcorn etc in for this, please can these be sent to school by Tuesday 15th December. Thank you!
Many thanks again for your continued support.
