School Newsletter

6th November 2020

Dear Parents,

It has been lovely welcoming the children back to school after the half-term break.  We have a few important events coming up, these are detailed below.

Remembrance Day:

It is Remembrance Day this Sunday 11th November.  Rev. Willson will be holding a short outdoor service shortly before 11am, the service is expected to last about 15 minutes.  This will be a socially distance event with a limit of 30 attendees.  Please see the Community Councils Facebook page for further details.

The children have been purchasing their poppy memorabilia throughout the week.  These will continue to be on sale throughout the month with all monies going to the Royal British Legion.

School Photographs:

The school photographer will be coming into school on the morning of Monday 9th November.  To comply with Covid regulations, the arrangements will be slightly different this year.  Each child will have an individual photo taken and if your child has a sibling in school then they will be able to have a photo together as well.  Unfortunately, siblings of children who are not in school will be unable to attend for this session.  We are sorry for any upset this may cause.  The school photographer will be wearing PPE to ensure your child’s protection.

Children in Need Day:

We will be raising money for Children in Need on Friday 13th November.  This year we are asking the children to come to school dressed in something spotty or stripy.  We are asking for a voluntary contribution to be made.  If this can be sent into school in an envelope, it would be greatly appreciated.  All monies raised will be going to support Children in Need.

Bronze Young Ambassadors:

Each year we are asked to select two children from Year 5 or 6 to represent our school as Bronze Young Ambassadors.  This role enables the children to learn new sports and games to share with the children in the rest of the school, whilst also providing the opportunity for them to network with similar age pupils from other local schools.  (Sessions will be held by Teams during the school day to ensure pupil safety and regulation compliance) Last year Kuba and Maddison did an excellent job of cascading their newly learnt skills to us all.  I have no doubt that Alfie, Ellie and Erin will do equally as good a job this year!  Congratulations all, I am confident you will be brilliant Ambassadors for our school!

Christmas raffle:

Although we won’t be having a Christmas Concert this year we would still like to make Christmas a memorable and special time.  As such, we have decided to go ahead with our raffle.  A number can be purchased by messaging Miss Evans on Dojo.  Please can you send any donations of items in with your child.  All items and hampers will be quarantined for 3 days in line with Covid regulations.

Christmas boxes:

In order to help make Christmas extra special for the children this year the Friends of the School have kindly decided to put together gift boxes for the children.  These will contain a number of small age appropriate gifts.  We thought it would be nice if the children had a couple of Christmas sweets in there too (not too many though!) so would therefore like to ask for donations of Santa style lollies etc.  If these could be sent into school it would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks and many thanks too to the Friends of School for this lovely idea!

Parents evening:

Many thanks to all of you for your patience and perseverance with the technology last night.  It was really lovely to see you all and to be able to share your child’s progress with you.  Many thanks for your continued support!

 Coats:

As the weather is becoming colder please can you ensure your child is sent to school with a suitable coat.  Many thanks.

PE Days:

As the weather is getting colder please can you ensure your child is dressed for the weather as PE will be taking place outdoors sometimes.  Many thanks.

With the ever-changing rules and regulations surrounding Covid-19, we appreciate you may have questions or queries regarding aspects of school life that may be now different.  Please do email to ask if you have any questions no matter how big or small, we are more than happy to help and would prefer to address any issues directly to prevent any unnecessary worry.

Best wishes

Miss Brian and all Staff
