16th October 2020

Dear Parents,

We have come to the end of our first half-term back in school since lockdown and I would like to say how very proud I am of each and every one of our pupils.  They have all worked incredibly hard and with great enthusiasm and deserve a well-earned two-week break!

Parents Evening:

Parents afternoon/evening will be held on Thursday 5th November.  Your individual parent’s evening time slot has been emailed out to you today.  As previously stated, these will be held via Teams and a Teams invite should have been sent to your child’s Hwb email address. If you have any issues accessing the site please can you let me know as soon as possible so that I can try and resolve the matter. Thank you!

As this is the first time holding a Parent’s evening via Teams, there may be a few glitches along the way.  Please bear with us as we will endeavour to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible!

Awards:

We held our first Virtual Awards Assembly this morning and for those of you that were able to access it, I think you will agree that the children all behaved impeccably!  As part of our push on Growth Mindset we have introduced a set of Growth Mindset Dinosaurs to help us to try our best and to persevere when things get tricky.  These are on display around the school and the children can receive dinosaur stickers for good working, self-belief, sharing etc.  The awards presented in our special assemblies will be related to these dinosaurs.

The following awards were given in today’s assembly:

Tryosaurus Rex                 Oliver Powell

Shareosaurus                    Lilly Bunce

Mistakeodocus                  Ellie Beddoe-Lloyd

Team-Player-Raptor          Ava Williams

Thinkosaurus                    Rachael James

Perserverosaurus              Erin Nicholas

Believosaurus                    Jayden Beddoe-Lloyd

Trainyourbrainosaurus       Alfie Mason

Head Teacher’s Award      Erin Nicholas

A huge congratulations to all!

                  Welsh Government Guidance:

On Wednesday the Welsh Government updated their guidance surrounding self-isolation and TTP.  Please find their latest information at the following links.

Student Teacher:

Some of you may have heard the children in Class One talking about a new Teacher in Class One!  Miss Renney is a PGCE student who will doing a placement in school between half term and Christmas.  I think you will all agree that she is in very safe hands with Miss Evans and she will be learning from one of the best!

Half Term Holiday:

Pupils will return to school on Monday 2nd November.  Whilst the school will be closed for two weeks, I want to reassure you that I shall continue to follow any Welsh Government Updates.  If any changes come to light that would affect the return to school or procedures required for school return I will of course contact you straight away.

With the ever-changing rules and regulations surrounding Covid-19, we appreciate you may have questions or queries regarding aspects of school life that may be now different.  Please do email to ask if you have any questions no matter how big or small, we are more than happy to help and would prefer to address any issues directly to prevent any unnecessary worry.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your ongoing support during these difficult times.  I am sure you will also join me in thanking the school staff who have all worked incredibly hard over the past 7 weeks and beyond!

I wish you all a very well-deserved restful half term holiday!

Kind regards,

Sarah Brian – Headteacher
